Haag-Streit to unveil new METIS microscope, & other new launches, at ESCRS 2024
Preparations are well underway for the 42nd Congress of the ESCRS taking place in Barcelona on September 6 – 10. Haag-Streit is delighted to confirm its attendance and reveal its exciting lineup.
‘Sneak preview’ of the new METIS microscope
The star attraction on the Haag-Streit booth, METIS will be unveiled for the very first time at this year’s Congress. Mike Luley, Director of Global Strategy and Business Development, Visualization, Haag-Streit, comments ahead of the ESCRS: “We are very excited to showcase the METIS for the first time. This new microscope combines over a century of optical excellence with efficient workflow and proper ergonomics. With a brand-new microscope design, every element has been engineered from the ground-up to provide the surgeon with the complete control and user experience they expect from Haag-Streit. We are very proud of the METIS and invite delegates to visit booth 7.C66 for a ‘sneak preview.’
The new 3D imaging-ready IM 910
Slit lamp imaging will also play a central role at this year’s ESCRS congress, with the opportunity for delegates to see the recently launched Imaging Module 910 3D (IM 910 3D) in action.
“With the addition of the IM 910 3D, we elevate the capabilities of the IM 910 by offering a dynamic 3D live-stream of impressive quality,” says Frank Wenger, Head of Product Management General Diagnostics. “Ophthalmologists can now experience an immersive depth impression, unveiling more detail for a richer viewing experience.” Frank continued: “See it for yourself; come to booth 7.C66 to witness it firsthand.”
As always, visitors will have the opportunity to get hands-on with many Haag-Streit solutions, including its BQ 900 slit lamp, the Eyestar 900 swept-source OCT, Lenstar 900 and Lenstar Myopia biometers, as well as the Octopus 900 and Octopus 600 perimeters. In addition, the DOMS HS-2010 examination unit will also be on display, alongside a selection of John Weiss reusable microsurgical instruments.
High-end virtual reality simulators
Haag-Streit will also showcase its new software for the Eyesi Surgical simulator. Representing a watershed moment in ophthalmic training, Eyesi Surgical Software 4.0 offers high-fidelity phacoemulsification simulations that transform the Eyesi Surgical from a residential training tool to a solution for autonomous learning and continuous improvement in advanced cataract surgery.
The Eyesi Indirect ROP simulator – first unveiled at ESCRS 2023 – enables training of retinal examinations on premature babies and classification of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) – and has since recorded a world-first through its implementation in four Polish teaching hospitals. Visitors will also get the opportunity to experience the Eyesi Slit Lamp and Eyesi Indirect Ophthalmoscope simulators on the Haag-Streit booth.
Ophthalmic Skills Training Center (OSTC)
Following its popularity at ESCRS 2023, Haag-Streit will bring back its Ophthalmic Skills Training Center (OSTC). Again, visitors are invited to experience training concepts for cataract surgery, including advanced phaco chopping techniques, and anterior vitrectomy.
Finally, Haag-Streit will be participating in the ESCRS-sponsored Cataract Surgery Learning Lab and ESCRS Tablao live virtual surgery presentation.
