We provide training in a number of clinical areas, utilizing a range of different ophthalmic devices. Our core education covers; slit lamp basic skills and imaging, biometry and cataract surgery planning, and static and kinetic perimetry. Please visit https://hsuk.co/AcademyCourseBookings for details of our current scheduled courses.

We run our courses in a variety of different locations, UK-wide. In the past, we have held courses in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh. We also deliver regular courses at our dedicated training facility in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.

The teaching faculty for each of our courses is made up of members of the Haag-Streit Academy team, including Product Specialists, as well as invited experts. Our invited speakers are always Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in their given field, which ensures that the training we offer is always up-to-date. Click here to find out more about our experienced clinical speakers.

All our live face-to-face training courses are CPD accredited with up to 7.5 points awarded by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) for a one-day course. We also ensure CET accreditation from the General Optical Council (GOC) when high volumes of Optometrists register to attend one of our courses. Please note it is the delegate’s own responsibility to log points onto their portfolio.

When it comes to sophisticated ophthalmic devices there is no substitute for rolling up your sleeves and having a go. That is why we have multiple workshop stations on each of our courses and always try to keep the group sizes as small as possible for practical sessions. We also understand that the theory behind the practice is fundamental to your success, so our lectures are mainly delivered by Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) with Product Specialists taking a lead when it comes to hands-on.

Obviously, there are some basic topics and skills that we need to include when covering certain conditions or devices. However, we pride ourselves on listening to feedback from previous delegates and continually revising our courses to ensure we deliver what people want. We take detailed feedback from all our delegates and, after each training event, produce a set of recommendations for modifications to improve our training.

Yes, we have produced interactive online e-learning training modules based on the content of our various live training events. This includes; Slit Lamp Basic Skills, Slit Lamp Imaging, Improving Outcomes Biometry Basics and Gold Standard Perimetry. All online content is currently available free of charge.

No, anyone with an interest in a particular condition or device can attend one of our live training events, regardless of whether or not they are already a Haag-Streit UK customer. Our approach is to focus on the condition or disease first during the lectures, before looking at specific devices in our hands-on sessions. This sometimes includes content relating to devices other than those manufactured or distributed by Haag-Streit.

You can book your place and pay for the course you would like to attend online at https://hsuk.co/AcademyCourseBookings. You can select to pay by Debit/Credit card to immediately secure a place or you can choose to reserve a place whilst an NHS Purchase Order is produced. Delegates selecting this option have 30 days to provide a PO.
