High-end VR training system

Lifelike training environment

Highly realistic examination of virtual patients

The Earsi Otoscope simulator is handled the same way as its real counterpart and allows for realistic practice of ear examinations, including pencil grip and pinna pull. Looking through the otoscope into the model ear, trainees see a highly realistic, three-dimensional representation of the external and middle ear simulated in real-time. Virtual patients present with different stages of relevant pathologies.

Ready-to-go curriculum

Standardized learning experience

Earsi Otoscope offers an embedded courseware and can easily be integrated into educational programs. The curriculum consists of three courses, each consisting of several cases. Students advance through the curriculum independently and self-guided by completing the cases of a course. The standardized learning experience ensures that all students reach the same level of clinical proficiency.

Self-guided training

Procedural guidance and medical background information

The Earsi Otoscope curriculum has been designed for self-guided training. Guidance elements, medical background information, and immediate feedback after each case help trainees to systematically improve their skills. Trainees advance through the curriculum independently by successfully completing the cases within a course. Required minimum scores ensure that trainees meet a defined skill level.

Assessment

Feedback and Evaluation

Earsi Otoscope provides both trainees and educators with an objective performance assessment. Scored parameters include pain caused to the patient, the area of the tympanic membrane surface examined, or correct, wrong, and missing findings and diagnoses.

Online administration of users and classes

VRmNet for educators

VRmNet is a web service for networked simulators from Haag-Streit Simulation. Educators can use VRmNet to easily set up users and classes. Trainees then receive a welcome email with their login information. After logging in to their personal dashboard, they have access to an orientation course to help them get started with their simulator training. Educators can monitor their student’s progress online.

Online learning resources

VRmNet for students

For trainees, the web based VRmNet dashboard offers access to their current training status and performance evaluation. Furthermore, a personal findings library provides students with medical background information for recap of the learning matter. The VRmNet dashboard can be accessed online from any computer or mobile device.

Studies

Validated training methods

Numerous studies have validated the training concepts of training simulators by Haag-Streit Simulation and have proven that beginners, residents, and experienced doctors benefit from simulator training.
