IOL power selection by artificial intelligence

Precise IOL power calculations for any patients

Hill-RBF Method 3.0

Unmatched confidence in IOL power calculation

The artificial intelligence underpinning the Hill-RBF is steadily updated with new IOL power calculation data from the world's leading cataract surgeons. Hill-RBF 3.0 was trained on an enlarged and refined dataset compared to previous versions. Thus, Hill-RBF 3.0 will provide more reliable predictions in extreme cases, i.e., long- and short eyes, than ever before. Out-of-bounds messages, a unique reliability check provides  unmatched confidence when you need it. For example, extreme cases have been reduced by up to 50% when compared to previous versions. Newly introduced patient parameters, i.e., lens thickness, white-to-white corneal diameter, central corneal thickness, and the patient’s gender will refine your spherical- and torical IOL power calculations even further.

The Hill-RBF Method represents a new approach in IOL calculation, incorporating pattern recognition based on artificial intelligence and sophisticated data interpolation. It delivers highly accurate IOL power predictions of 94.8% within ±0.5 D in all eyes*

The Hill-RBF incorporates a unique reliability check, providing the certainty of the IOL prediction for unmatched confidence. This new calculation approach is constantly evolving and enhancing its capabilities, thanks to new data from the worldwide joint effort from all participating surgeons.

Hill-RBF 2.0 is exclusively integrated in the Lenstar; in addition, online calculations accessible via the ASCRS web page, are also available.

Hill-RBF/Abulafia-Koch Toric Calculator

Precise IOL power calculations for any patients

The Abulafia-Koch formula is developed in order to compensate the posterior corneal astigmatism effect. Based on the anterior curvature it calculates the net corneal astigmatism with the correct magnitude and meridian. Studies show that it provides better outcomes than the Holladay or the Alcon toric calculator. Versus the Barrett toric calculator there are no significant differences.

EyeSuite IOL integrates the Abulafia-Koch formula (AK) based on spherical calculation by the Hill-RBF. Thus, toric calculations in EyeSuite combine two advanced methods for optimal results.
