MICRO FEATHER

Precision high-quality cutting scalpels

Sideport scalpels

Incision, MVR & Paracentesis scalpels

The straight, ultra-sharp blades of the FEATHER Incision scalpels are precisely honed in micro units for optimum incisions of the sclera and cornea, while FEATHER MVR scalpels are used in vitreoretinal surgery as well as cutting sideports for the introduction of instruments. The FEATHER Paracentesis scalpels are suitable for making 1.0mm incisions for sideports for the introduction of instruments in a wide range of applications.

Phaco & enlargement incisions scalpels

BUC, BUPS & standard scalpels

Bevel-up Coated (BUC) scalpels provide a very sharp tip to significantly decrease the insertion resistance and are used for sclerocorneal and clear corneal incisions during cataract surgery. Bevel-up Parallel Sided (BUPS) scalpels have a gliding edge that increases cutting consistency, minimises resistance and avoids accidental enlargement of the incision. Standard Phaco scalpels, with a diamond-shape blade tip, enable optimal penetration into the eye. Both are suitable for clear corneal and scleral tunnel incisions in cataract surgery. FEATHER Clear Cornea scalpels are perfect for single-plane and two-plane incisions. FEATHER Enlargement scalpels, with their trapezoidal tip, are used to enlarge an incision for implanting an intraocular lens.

Scleral tunnel incisions & preparation of flaps

Crescent, Round & Hockey scalpels

With sharp blades, straight sides and a rounded tip, FEATHER Crescent scalpels are perfect for creating scleral tunnel flaps. Optimum wound healing and quality incisions are achieved due to their unique blade design. The Round scalpel can be used to gradually extend the scleral tunnel flap on both sides, due to its round blade, which is formed on both sides. Hockey scalpels are suitable for a number of applications in ophthalmic surgery, such as making incisions in the sclera, scraping the corneal epithelium or creating a scleral tunnel flap during glaucoma surgery.

Scalpels for pre-defined incision depths

Groove scalpels & Glaucoma scalpels

The FEATHER Groove scalpel permits consistent cutting depth for incisions into the sclera and cornea as well as for limbal-relaxing incisions (LRI) in the cornea. The weight of the aluminium handle is ideal as it allows more control in vertical incisions. Glaucoma scalpels are specially developed for performing sclerotomy with a pre-defined incision depth for glaucoma surgery. The stainless steel guard of 0.1mm thickness on one side of the 30° straight blade makes it possible to ensure a fixed cutting depth for incisions in the upper half of the sclera.

Safeshield scalpels

With blade protection

Safeshield scalpels increase safety against sharp injuries. The protective cover ensures that the blade is not damaged through contact with other instruments, therefore preserving the quality, reliability and precision of the FEATHER blade.
