Haag-Streit Academy delivers successful slit lamp courses at Haag-Streit UK HQ

Haag-Streit UK recently delivered its popular Academy slit lamp courses at our Bishop’s Stortford HQ.

Lectures were delivered by slit lamp experts, including Ophthalmologist, Mr Sunil Mamtora, and HS-UK slit lamp and imaging Product Manager, Gemma Edwards. Hands-on practical workshops including tonometry, time on the Eyesi slit lamp simulator, slit lamp basic controls and 3D imaging, allowed delegates to have ample time to refine their slit lamp skills.

New for this course, was a workshop on foreign body removal, where delegates had the opportunity to develop their hand-eye co-ordination by removing foreign bodies using model eyes.

Haag-Streit UK Events Manager, Victoria Chapman-Brown, commented: “It was great to be back at HQ to deliver the slit lamp courses in our Academy. With Stansted airport on the doorstep, we always attract delegates from all over the UK. We were surprised at this course with a delegate who had travelled all the way from Australia and attended all 3 days, including our Saturday Skills Hub.”

Feedback from delegates was very positive, as always, with one delegate saying, “Brilliant study day, I feel so much more confident. The pace was excellent, Sunil is very patient and explains everything so well.”

The Academy team were pleased to showcase the new Elara 900 slit lamp at the course and offer delegates the opportunity to be one of the first to see the device in action in the UK. Feedback from attendees was very positive, particularly relating to the huge potential for increased workflow.

The 2026 calendar of course dates will be available soon, so keep an eye on our social media and website for further information.
