Haag-Streit UK announces the launch of ‘Improving Outcomes’ Biometry Courses

The Basic and Advanced ‘Improving Outcomes’ biometry courses are designed to help both beginners and experienced ophthalmic consultants get the most from their biometers.

The ‘Biometry Basics’ course focuses on the importance of good biometry practice to ensure optimal outcomes for patients undergoing cataract surgery. It is aimed at cataract and refractive nurses and allied ophthalmic professionals with an interest in biometry. A series of lectures will cover topics such as ‘The anatomy of the human eye’, ‘Good Biometry Practice’ and ‘Introduction to Optical Biometry.’ The course also features hands on workshops on IOL power calculation, biometry measurement and adding & editing IOL data.

The ‘Advanced Biometry & Surgical Planning’ course focuses on more complex techniques and is aimed at cataract, refractive surgeons and healthcare professionals, with a special interest in biometry for surgical planning. Attendees will cover the main principles of biometry, including Toric IOL Planning, and a focus on Topography & Keratometry.

Both courses will offer practical, hands-on workshops that support a range of subjects, using the Lenstar LS 900. In addition, the advanced course will offer delegates the opportunity to trial the cataract suite on the new Eyestar 900 swept-source OCT measurement device, and the cataract training module on the Eyesi Surgical simulator.

Doreen Agyeman, HS-UK Clinical Education and Training Manager, said, “We are delighted to relaunch the ‘Improving Outcomes' biometry courses.  These courses have previously been very popular and we look forward to insightful lectures from key members of our Faculty, Mr David Sculfor and Mr Peter Wilson.”

Doreen continued, “We are excited to feature the Eyestar 900 in the updated agenda for the Advanced Course.  This state-of-the-art device will allow an opportunity to focus on key topics, such as topography, keratometry and Zernike analysis."

The price for each course is just £125 + VAT, which will include lunch and refreshments. Both courses are CPD accredited* and are supported with pre-course e-learning content. For further information, please email academy@haag-streit-uk.com.
